Are you looking for the most expensive premium WordPress themes on the market?
The premium WordPress theme industry is flooded with great products at different prices. Many of them start at around $50. But there are also a lot of higher-priced themes with advanced features that cater to specific niches.
In this article, we will share some of the most expensive premium WordPress themes and why they’re worth it.
A Note on Expensive Premium WordPress Themes
Just because a theme is expensive, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best option for you. Make sure you check out our guide on selecting the perfect theme for WordPress so you know what to look for.
The main reason the themes we’ve picked here are more expensive than average is that they offer all the tools needed to make a perfect website.
So, in reality, you are buying a theme plus a bunch of what would otherwise be premium plugins.
Of course, you’ll still need to buy a domain name (a website address, like wpbeginner.com) for your site. You’ll also need WordPress web hosting.
When you are looking at buying an expensive premium theme, the costs of building a website can add up fast.
Luckily, the web hosting company Bluehost offers a great deal for WPBeginner’s readers.
You can get a huge discount on web hosting with Bluehost, a free domain name, and a free SSL certificate (for the first year).
This is a great way to get powerful web hosting for your WordPress site at a fraction of the usual price.
If you’ve never added a WordPress theme to your site before, you’ll also want to work through our step-by-step guide on how to install a WordPress theme.
Now, let’s look at some of the more expensive premium WordPress themes on the market.
1. StudioPress Genesis
StudioPress Genesis offers a powerful Genesis Framework. It’s the ultimate WordPress theme framework with a library of code used as the basis for a theme.
Genesis Framework is open source, meaning various theme experts contribute to the product to make it robust daily.
StudioPress has a helpful community you can reach out to for help when customizing your theme. It has a framework already developed, so you need to use a child theme or customize it to your liking.
Moreover, the theme framework often comes with custom widgets and options built into the theme. This can reduce your need for extra plugins.
The Genesis Framework comes with dozens of child themes (some by StudioPress, some by third-party) that you can choose from.
Pricing: The StudioPress Genesis Pro costs $360/year.
Need web hosting as well? There’s a great deal available if you buy your hosting from WP Engine, which offers fantastic hassle-free hosting.
StudioPress is now part of WP Engine, the most popular managed WordPress hosting company. You can get the Genesis Framework and 35+ other StudioPress themes when you sign up for WP Engine hosting to build your website.

This gives you a total of over 2,000 individual layouts that you can use and customize.
Divi makes it super easy to create custom page layouts, including sales landing pages, without coding.
You can then save the pages you’ve created as templates and use them to create more custom layouts on your site.
Divi also lets you export a layout and use it on another site where you’re using the Divi Theme Builder.
When you buy Divi, you’ll also get these Elegant Themes products along with it:
- Extra: a magazine-style WordPress theme and visual page builder

does anyone know if michael hyatts wordpress theme GET NOTICED will work with Thrive Themes?
Todd says
I have a question for those using Get Noticed: does it get in the way of hiring a free lance designer to spruce it up? Specifically, designers who have worked with Get Notice before.
Thanks – T

I use the x-theme and I have to say I just love it. It costs 65$ per license and it’s more of a framework than a theme. I’m a web developer and I have built a few and modified a lot of themes (premium and free) and until now, no other theme has given me the support and flexibility X has
It also has a very nice set of extensions and pligin partners that make my work way easier and more beautiful *_*

Great list… thanks for putting it together for us! My favorite WP theme to use on client sites is iThemes Builder. It’s got a fantastic layout editor that uses “building blocks” — modules — for creating unique page templates. They also have 100+ pre-made child themes that already have the basic layouts included and can be quickly customized by the user, which saves even more time.
The coding is super-clean and the support team is awesome. I’ve tried using other themes throughout the last several years and I always end up going BACK to iThemes… that’s not me being inflexible — it’s because they’ve got a high-quality product.
P.S. No, this isn’t a paid endorsement! LOL – I just really like them.
Vilma Betancourt says
I am surprised that you didn’t include the Studio Press framework and their great themes which are easily customizable and lower in price than Michael Hyatt’s and others listed here. I’ve used them for years and I’m not a web designer or developer. It’s easy for non-techies like myself.

I am a hypnotherapist that conducts sessions regarding weight management/loss, smoking cessation, sports motivation; plus I conduct Past Life Regressions. Having difficulty with a theme – don’t want it to appear, “airy fairy, “any ideas? I want it to be taken seriously yet to acknowledge that we are entering the spiritual realm
Jennifer says
Hi Deborah, I had to comment I’m a spiritual seeker and follow a lot of metaphysical teachers/alternative healing/etc. blogs. The one comment I always laugh at is WHY oh WHY do they choose a website that looks like a galaxy, purple and indigo stars everywhere, magenta font, I think you know exactly what I mean! Not saying that you would do that but it made me think. Anyway, I’m currently building a new blog for conscious travelers (On The Purple Path) and chose a minimalist design. It’s easy to read, clean, and you can beautify it with photos but themes are easier to digest when they’re minimal, monochromatic especially since you want to reach out to the people who would be turned off from an “airy fairy” look.

I think are the best WordPress templates on ThemeForest
Mike says
I would guess that I save about 75% of your emails in a special folder for future reference. Sorry to say, but this is one I will NOT be saving. My pockets are not that deep, and there are thousands of excellent themes in the $50.00 to $80.00 range that I can afford.
Pete prest says
I completely agree with you. There are some staggering designs out there. You just have to know where to look.
Customising is easy but I charge heavily for the research that goes into unearthing that perfect theme for my clients.
Dumitru Brinzan says
Thanks for featuring Bordeaux & Imperial!
I said this time and time again: a theme is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.
If you don’t see value in some of the features provided by the above-mentioned themes then most likely you wouldn’t buy them even for $50.
Granit says
They are not worthy, maybe these are your themes and you are trying to sell them IDK.
Best themes are on Mythemeshop and Themeforest
AKK says

I’d like to see a comprehensive comparison of themes/plugins for non-profits and similar organizations with committees and boards and volunteers that are constantly changing and events and other necessary things for a non-profit or similar governmental organization.

Thanks for the suggestion, we will try to cover it soon.

Great content! Based on your searches, do you have a recommendation for the best Real Estate Agent theme?
Thanks,

A theme for WordPress shouldn’t be more than $50 bucks…. You are going to do a lot of work to it anyway.
Len says
I’ve been in search for a good word press theme for a classified website. I hope you’ll consider doing a article on some themes for this purpose soon.

Dan Awontis says
Bookmarked it. I’ll use the time to analyse them, compare and maybe even use some of them. Thank you for the research.

Do you have a recommendation for a therapy practice website (single practioner)?
Thank you,

I do not see the reason to pay the extra expense when themes such as Avada and Betheme offer far better value.
