Are you looking for the best WordPress theme for your family blog?
Lots of people use WordPress to build small family websites. It allows them to share family news, events, and photographs with friends and relatives.
In this article, we will share some of the best WordPress themes for family blogs.
Creating Family Blogs With WordPress
First, you need to choose the right website platform for your family blog. We strongly recommend using self-hosted WordPress.org.
Self-hosted WordPress.org is different from the hosted version at WordPress.com. You can check out our complete article on the difference between WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org.
To start your WordPress blog, you will also need a domain name and web hosting.
A domain name is your website’s address on the internet (like wpbeginner.com). Web hosting is where your website itself is stored.
We recommend using Bluehost for your web hosting. They are the most popular web hosting provider and an official WordPress hosting partner.
Even better, Bluehost is giving WPBeginner readers a great deal. You can get a free domain name, a free SSL certificate, and a BIG discount on web hosting.
Just go through our link to Bluehost to get the offer applied automatically.
Next, you will need to install WordPress. After that, check out our complete guide on how to make a website.

Me too, precisely what I came here looking for. You’d think with explosion of interest in family history / geneaology developers / providers would see the market potential for this.
WPBeginner Support says
Normally that type of content would require a plugin which is why themes could be slower at adopting that but we will certainly look into a possible article

With genealogical research, and reporting/sharing with family members, being such a hot topic around the world, I thought at least one of your themes would recommend this by name.
I am the family genealogist and would like to set up a private blog to share recent research finds with the rest of the family around the world. ‘Finds’ would include text explaining a census record (as an included photo), a cemetery headstone, an old newspaper clip, etc.
Which theme(s) would you recommend?
Melody Burton says
I agree. I’ve been searching for some time for a good theme for a family history website.
